This varies depending on the sealer type, surface porosity, and how much foot or vehicle traffic the surface receives. Penetrating sealers typically last between three and ten years. Film-forming sealers on high-traffic areas may need reapplication every one to three years. JC Eco Blasting will advise you on the expected lifespan for your specific situation during the quoting process.
A simple water drop test tells you a lot. If water beads on the surface, the sealer is still active. If it soaks in quickly and darkens the concrete, it is time to reseal. Visible staining, surface dusting, and biological growth like moss or algae are also indicators that protection has broken down.
